The Leeward Golf Association is a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association. The LGA was initiated in 1989. Golf has been a feature of the Tobago Landscape since 1978 and Tobago has benefited from and produced a number of worthy players. The early programmes yielded notable players like Carlos “Sexy” Baynes, a former member of the Leeward Golf Association and one of the most respected national players. The Leeward Golf Association is therefore maintaining the tradition of involvement of the youths in Golf.

The 2000 Junior Golf Programme (November 2000) exposed 12 youths between the ages of 5-17 to the rudiments of golf, ably assisted by members, parents and resident Pro: Mr. Winston Roberts. The enrollment has grown five-fold to a number of 60 youths in the past years, which is a testimony to the first programme. Support for the basic equipment and prizes for competitors have been forthcoming from a donor as a partner of the Leeward Golf Association.

The Leeward Golf Association held four major youth tournament in the past three years at the Mt. Irvine Bay Golf course, which has been offered generously by the Mt Irvine Bay Golf Club as the home course of the Leeward Golf Association.
